21 IPS trainees complete Kashmir module

November 09, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Srinagar, Nov 8: A five-day Familiarization Module in Kashmir for 21 Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer Trainees of the 78th Regular Recruit (RR) Batch, Second Batch, concluded on Sunday, providing the future police leaders with first-hand exposure to the security dynamics, counter-terrorism operations and operational mechanisms in the Valley.

The programme, organised with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and ground-level operational experience, familiarising the young officers with the challenges of policing in a sensitive security environment.
During the five-day module, the trainee officers were attached to different CRPF companies in small groups, where they gained practical insights into field operations and the functioning of security formations deployed in high-intensity operational areas.
The trainees were familiarised with Cordon and Search Operations (CASO), the functioning of Tactical Operation Bases (TOBs) and their day-to-day operational responsibilities. They were also apprised of the administrative, tactical and operational frameworks followed by security personnel in maintaining security and responding to evolving challenges.
The final day featured specialised tactical briefings and demonstrations aimed at enhancing the officers' understanding of counter-terrorism procedures. A live Room Intervention demonstration highlighted tactical approaches followed during close-quarter operations.
The trainees also visited the CRPF's War Room, Social Media Cell and Madadgaar Cell, gaining exposure to operational coordination, information management and public assistance mechanisms.
A comprehensive display of specialised weapons and modern operational equipment was another key component of the programme, providing the officers an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the resources and technologies used by security forces during field operations.
The module concluded with an interactive feedback and debriefing session, during which the trainees shared their observations and discussed the operational lessons gained during the attachment.
The programme provided the 21 officer trainees an opportunity to understand the practical dimensions of counter-terrorism operations, inter-agency coordination and the administrative responsibilities involved in policing challenging environments.
The familiarisation exercise is expected to strengthen their understanding of ground realities and prepare them for future leadership responsibilities in law enforcement, internal security and public service.
The CRPF described the module as an important training milestone, offering the young officers immersive exposure to front-line operational realities and the professional demands of policing in complex security environments.
