
The closing ceremony of 26th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2023-24 was held at Indoor Sports Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu here today. The event was organized by J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) and J&K Sports Council (JKSC) from 15th to 17th February 2023.
The Championships was open for Sub Junior, Cadet and Junior athletes of UT J&K and it observed a massive participation of young athletes. Players across different districts from the J&K participated. The Championship was held under the emblem of My Youth My Pride. Around 600 players participated in said Championships from different Districts of UT - J&K.
The Medallist players of Cadet and Junior girls age groups will represent J&K-UT in the upcoming Phase 2 of 1st Khelo India Women’s Taekwondo League 2023-24 from 21st to 24th February 2024 at KD Singh Babu Indoor Stadium, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, organized by Uttar Pradesh Taekwondo Association, under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India & Khelo India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
In the Closing Ceremony Dr SM Bali (senior vice president, JKTA & founder of Handball in J&K) was Chief Guest and Distributed Medals and Trophies to the Winners and while speaking on the occasion, he congratulated all the participants, coaches and medalist.
B.S Jamwal (Retd. Deputy Commissioner), Shri Vikas Gupta (General Secretary, Judo Association of J&K) were present there as Guest of Honour.
Ms Priyanka singh (central administrator osc, mission shakti) , Shri Subhash Shastri (President National Mazdoor sang), and Mr Chandeep Singh (World Para Taekwondo medalist) were Present there as a Guest were also present there as Special Guest.
The Championship was headed by Shri Rajesh Pangotra President JKTA and Shri Ramesh Chandra Sharma, Secretary, JKTA. The Technical Team , who displayed the fairplay decisions throughout the Championship was led by Shri Atul Pangotra. In the referee panel, Zaheer Abbas Khan (NR), Vinod Kumar (NR), Brinder Singh Manhas (NR), Kamlesh Kumar (NR), Pawan Kumar (NR), Nittin Singh Rathore (NR), Tashi Tundup (NR), Sonam Chospal (NR), Pushp Thakur (NR), Shanaz Parveen (NR), Naeem Masoor (NR), Dushyant Kapta (NR), Rudhra Partap Singh (NR) Rohit Panchal (NR) Rishabh Adhikari (NR) Syed Taha (NR) and include State Referee , Sumit Sharma, Suhayl Ahmed Khan, and Hashim Majeed.
Dr. Ashok Kumar (Para Indian Taekwondo Coach &), supervised the event as the Technical Director, who was appointed by J&K Taekwondo Association (Regd) with full support of organising committee Burhan Ud Din Khan, Vipin Kumar, Amit Kumar and Sunil Vaid.
The championship was supported by many Coaches and National and international athletes including Chandeep singh, Arslan Ahmed, Sidharth Sharma, Latief Ahmed, Rakesh Singh, Rashmi Abrol, Bhanu Partap Singh, Jagpreet Kour, Vansh Rakwal, Adnan Lateef, Zehran Shabir, Tajamul Gani, Aqib Ahmad Dar, Javid Ahmad Khan, Mohsin Rafiq wani, Mohsin Ali, Abrar, Nadeem Niaz Zargar, Arslan Nabi, Wasif Javed, Aquib Gulzar, Rohit Sharma, Suhail Ganaie, and Narayan Dass.
District Jammu lifted the winner up trophy of the 26th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2023-24, The Runner up Trophy was bagged by District Udhampur and the 2nd Runner Up Trophy was bagged by District Badgam. The active participation award was given to District Doda and District Poonch, District Kulgam, District Srinagar and District Shopian. The Best Sport man sprit award given to District Baramulla, District Kishtwar, District Pulwama, District Bandipora and District Ramban.
While speaking to General Secretary of JKTA Shri Ramesh Chander Sharma. He said we are very committed to create an Olympic level of atmosphere here at Jammu and Kashmir and we surely will organize and participate events that will only aim at promoting the athletes of Jammu and Kashmir across the India for various National and International championships.
