
July 19: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, J&K Police achieved another major success by apprehending three drug peddlers in separate operations in Anantnag and Awantipora and recovered significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, a police party of Police Station Achabal during naka checking at Kanganhal intercepted and apprehended one person identified as Zubair Majeed Lone, son of Abdul Majeed Lone, resident of Tailwani. During his personal search, 1.7 Kgs of Ganja powder-like substance was recovered from his possession. Similarly, a police party of Police Station Bijbehara during naka checking at Doodhnaad, Waghama, apprehended one drug peddler identified as Imran Nazir Dass son of Nazir Ahmad Dass, resident of Waghama, Bijbehara. Besides, another accused identified as Irshad Ahmad Dass son of Ghulam Hassan Dass, resident of Waghama, managed to flee from the spot, and efforts are on to nab the absconding accused. During search, the police recovered two bags containing 7.1 Kgs of poppy straw from the spot.
In Awantipora, a police party led by SHO Police Station Khrew, during naka checking at Monpora Crossing, intercepted and apprehended one person identified as Saqib Bashir Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Khanmoh, Srinagar. During his personal search, 3.21 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the NDPS Act have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been taken up.
