Unknown burglars stole a 250 KV power transformer from Tarzoo Sopore in Baramulla district last night, according to eyewitnesses.
The witnesses said that the internal structure, wiring, and fuel of the transformer were removed, leaving only the outer shell.
The transformer supplied electricity to about 35 households in the area.
Tariq Ahmed, a lineman in the area, said that locals are experiencing issues due to the theft of the transformer, which supplied power to many houses.
Police have started an investigation, and efforts are underway to restore power to the affected households.
