300 young athletes shine at ASMITA Wushu League

Srinagar, Sep 14 : The ASMITA Women’s Wushu League Championship 2026 was inaugurated today at the Shri Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar, with enthusiastic participation from around 300 young Wushu athletes.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Ms. Sabia Qadri, President, Women’s Wing, as the Chief Guest. Her presence and encouraging words motivated the participating athletes and officials.
The ceremony was also attended by Sadat Aslamwani, Vice President, Wushu Association J&K, Dr. Saba, Irfan Ahmad Wani, Ijaz Hassan, and Rameez Ahmad Dar, along with coaches, technical officials, athletes and sports enthusiasts.
The championship is being organised by the District Wushu Association Srinagar with the objective of providing women athletes and young Wushu players with a competitive platform to showcase their talent, enhance their skills and gain valuable championship experience.
Around 300 athletes are participating in the championship, reflecting the growing popularity of Wushu and the increasing enthusiasm among young players. The athletes displayed excellent discipline, determination and sporting spirit during the inaugural programme.
The championship will continue for two days, September 14 and 15, 2026, at the Shri Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar. The Closing Ceremony will be held on September 15, 2026.
The organisers expressed their sincere gratitude to the J&K Sports Council for its continuous support and cooperation in promoting sports and providing opportunities to young athletes. The Wushu Association J&K was also acknowledged for its valuable support in the successful conduct of the championship.
Special appreciation was expressed to Mr. Kuldeep Handoo, Chief Coach of India, for his continuous guidance, encouragement and valuable support towards the development and promotion of Wushu athletes.
At the conclusion of the inaugural programme, Mohammad Maqsood Rather delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, J&K Sports Council, Wushu Association J&K, Mr. Kuldeep Handoo, coaches, technical officials, athletes, parents and volunteers for their valuable support and contribution towards the successful conduct of the championship.
The ASMITA Women’s Wushu League aims to strengthen women’s participation in sports and create greater opportunities for young athletes to compete, gain experience and excel at district, state and national levels.
