Imphal, July 20: Security forces have recovered 41 weapons, explosives and other war-like stores while apprehending 12 insurgent cadres during a series of intelligence-based joint operations conducted across Manipur between July 12 and 18, officials said.
The operations were launched by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, in close coordination with the Manipur Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and other Central Armed Police Forces.
The coordinated raids were carried out across both hill and valley districts, including Kakching, Tengnoupal, Imphal East, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Jiribam, Thoubal, Chandel and Kangpokpi, based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of armed militants and the presence of illegal weapon caches.
During the week-long operations, security forces apprehended 12 active cadres linked to various insurgent outfits. The arrested individuals are being questioned to gather further intelligence about militant networks, logistics and arms supply routes operating in the region.
Officials said the joint teams also recovered a substantial cache of 41 weapons, along with explosives, ammunition and other war-like stores believed to have been concealed for use in militant activities. The seized arms have been handed over to the police for further investigation and forensic examination.
Security officials described the operations as part of the ongoing effort to restore peace and stability in Manipur by dismantling insurgent infrastructure, recovering illegally held weapons and preventing violence.
They said intelligence-based operations will continue across vulnerable areas to curb militant activities and ensure the safety of civilians.
The latest success reflects the close coordination among the Army, Assam Rifles, state police and Central security forces in maintaining law and order and strengthening the security grid across the violence-affected state.
