
Itanagar, Sep 18: Assam Rifles under Spear Corps, in a joint operation with the State Police and CRPF, apprehended two persons and recovered 233 grams of suspected brown sugar in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, officials said.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the security forces launched a joint operation in the district and conducted a search that led to the recovery of the suspected contraband.
The substance, weighing approximately 233 grams, was concealed in 21 soap cases, officials said. The seized material is estimated to be worth around ₹46.60 lakh in the illicit market.
Two individuals were apprehended during the operation and have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal action.
The recovery underscores the role of coordinated operations among security forces and civil police in curbing the movement of narcotic substances in the region.
The Assam Rifles said the operation reflected effective inter-agency coordination and reaffirmed the security forces’ commitment to disrupting drug-trafficking networks and supporting efforts towards a drug-free India.
