Srinagar, Aug 26: At least six persons were killed and three suffered injuries when a car they were travelling in met with an accident on Wednesday in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that a car on its way from Poonch towards Shindra met with an accident.
Six persons were killed, and three others sustained injuries.
The deceased were identified as Sheraz Ahmed, Nazakat Hussain, Mohd Shafiq, Musarat Hussain, Zulfat Bi and Mohd Wasid, all residents of Sokar Mohalla, Shindra.
The injured persons have been rushed to local hospital, where from two critically injured were evacuated to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialised treatment.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has condoled the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Poonch, today.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor wrote: "Pained by the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Poonch. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. Have directed the District Administration to ensure immediate assistance is provided to those affected."
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also expressed deep grief over the tragic road accident in Surankote, Poonch, which claimed six lives and left several others injured.
The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
He directed the concerned authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment and care for those injured in the accident.
The Chief Minister also directed the concerned authorities to extend all possible assistance to the affected families in this hour of grief.
