Anantnag, September 10: A 65-year-old man was injured after being attacked by a wild bear near Chowgam village in the Shangus area of Anantnag district on Thursday.
The injured man, identified as Ghulam Hassan Magray, son of Habibullah Magray, was reportedly outside his home when the bear suddenly appeared and attacked him.
Locals rushed to the spot after hearing about the incident and evacuated Magray to Sub-District Hospital Shangus for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
Residents have appealed to the Wildlife Department to conduct an inspection of the area and take necessary measures to prevent further encounters between wild animals and local residents.
