Jiribam, Sep 3: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Assam Rifles, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jiribam Police recovered 10.891 kg of brown sugar, valued at approximately ₹80 crore, from Makha Basti along JT Road in Jiribam, Manipur.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint security team launched an operation in the area and intercepted an individual suspected of involvement in the illegal narcotics trade.
During the search, the security personnel recovered 10.891 kg of brown sugar, along with Indian currency notes and a mobile handset. One person was apprehended in connection with the seizure.
The operation represents a significant blow to attempts to transport and distribute narcotic substances in the region, particularly given the substantial quantity and estimated value of the contraband recovered.
Following the seizure, the apprehended individual, along with the recovered narcotics and other items, was handed over to Jiribam Police for further legal proceedings.
Authorities are expected to investigate the source and intended destination of the seized narcotics and identify other individuals who may be linked to the network.
The successful operation underscores the importance of coordinated action among security forces and local police in tackling the trafficking of narcotic substances and disrupting organised drug networks in the region.
