9,394 cases settled at Srinagar Lok Adalat

Srinagar, Sep 12: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar held the 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2026 at the District Court Complex Mominabad and the Court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate/JMIC, Pantha Chowk, resolving 9,394 cases.

The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh Dr Pushpendra Singh Bhati in the presence of Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman of the J&K Legal Services Authority, and other judicial officers.
A total of 9,888 cases were taken up by 11 benches, covering civil matters, matrimonial disputes, compoundable criminal cases, bank recoveries, MACT claims and pre-litigation disputes.
According to DLSA Srinagar, 9,394 cases were amicably settled, with a total settlement amount of ₹111.14 crore.
In MACT matters, 85 cases were taken up and 33 settled, involving ₹6.72 crore in compensation. Cheques worth ₹3.42 crore were distributed on the spot among claimants.
The Chief Justice highlighted the role of Lok Adalats in providing speedy, affordable and amicable justice while reducing litigation and court backlogs.
The event also featured a ceremonial guard of honour and plantation of Chinar and maple saplings within the court premises.
