A Mother’s Eternal Legacy

Mother is an universal symbol of love ,affection and attachment. Mothers are divine creatures embodied with undying love. Some mother's become beacon of inspiration for all times to come. They nurture their children with blood and sweat without any kind of greed. They devote their lives for the cause of their children. My mother namely Syedah Rafiq was the kind of that mother, who rendered every drop of her blood for our collective progress and prosperity. But unfortunately she left us on 5th September 2026 after battling five long years of illness due to Dementia. Although we left no stone unturned in order to get her treated as per best available options but nature had something else in store for her.

Firstly our childhood was irrigated with blood and sweat of our parents particularly our mother. My mother had five Sons and had to take care of a big family without any support. She fought bravely with harsh realities of her life.Although she was not highly educated but had the razor shaped intellect in nurturing her children. Her intellectual foresight is still the driving force in our collective consciousness. Her nourishment in our early childhood had all the essential ingredients of love, accountability, attachment & foresight. On the one hand, she nurtured her children with immense sacrifices but ensured accountability on the other hand still remember an early childhood episode of my School life. One day I came back from my classes after lunch wearing my School bag .She immediately caught me and sent me back without allowing me to eat my lunch. That was the epitome of accountability. All the household chores were single handily managed by my mother with full vigour and strength. She never uttered a single word while complaining about her hard life. She never sought support in her entire life but fought bravely encountering every challenge. Today we live settled lives with dignity and prestige because of her historical sacrifices .Our lives bear an integral imprint of her sacrifices and sufferings. She took inspiring care of our late grandfather as well as our ailing uncle. She had to take care of a big family of nine family members single headedly.
Secondly coming to her illness ,she started showing symptoms of dementia in 2021.We immediately took her to a well known psychiatrist of the valley. The doctor told us bluntly that this disease can not be stopped but can be contained to a certain extent. We followed the treatment plan in it's true letter and spirit. Our father geared for this challenge and took great care of her spouse. With the passage of time the disease entered into it's final stages and the condition of our mother started deteriorating with each passing day.Now our mother was hardly able to recognise her children, husband and other relatives .We left no doctor where we did not take our mother for treatment but nothing changed. We also arranged her online consultation with an outside psychiatrist but she also disappointed us.The condition of our mother got bad to worse since last year, when she became completely bed ridden. The last one year of her life was extremely terrible particularly the last month. During the last month we had to hospitalise her twice due to low oxygen saturation .Finally our mother breathed her last at SKIMS Bemina on 5th September 2026.The sufferings of our mother during this month can never be expressed in words as it was doomsday for all of us.The doctor's at SKIMS tried their level best in order to treat her as per best medical practices .We are greatly indebted to them for their kindness .Moreover we are extremely thankful to Dr Syed Nazish Bukhari and Syed Faraz Farooq for their unrelenting support during hard times. We are also thankful to our every wellwisher particularly our relatives ,who still visit us in order to share their grief and sorrow.
Last but not the least, may Allah broaden graves of all departed and bestow Janatul_Firdous to our mother
