Over the last decade India has been witnessing an alarming growth of acid attack especially on women. Acid violence is a heinous crime and committed usually against women, with an intention to disfigure or kill her. An acid attack, also called acid throwing, vitriol attack, or vitriol age, is a form of violent assault involving the act of throwing acid or a similarly corrosive substance onto the body of another "with the intention to disfigure, maim, torture, or kill”. Perpetrators of these attacks throw corrosive liquids at their victims, usually at their faces, burning them, and damaging skin tissue, often exposing and sometimes dissolving the bones. Acid attacks can often lead to permanent blindness.
A large no. Of acid attack survivors suffer from severe mental trauma as they are shunned due to their disfigurement. Jobs are not easy to get as appearances matter to many employers. Even homes on rent are denied to survivors on the grounds that their disfigurement invokes fear in the locality.
A study revealed that 78% of the reported acid attack case is for refusal to marriage. “Acid attack on young women” is some of the headlines that are appearing in the daily newspaper. Acid attacks on women are increasing day by day.
Recently a shocking incident in the old city Srinagar,where a 24-year-old woman was attacked with acid by a stalker, that created a wave of anger and anxiety among people in Kashmir.
Such heinous crime are not tolerable as it indicates the moral degradation of the society at large especially the youth who have fallen prey to drugs and other immoral activities.
The only way to really do something about acid violence is to change the mentality of the society, There was a time in Kashmir when crime rate was zero against women now-a-days we are witnessing the crimes like, rising incidence of misbehavior, drug addiction rising suicide rate ,intolerance among young children’s and youth are a matter of grave concern for every sensible and conscious.we need to educate our new generation about the status of women in our society who is not only daughter, sister Or mother, but above all maker of our society, there is a need to minimize the communication gap in the new generation, and need of the hour is to impart moral and religious education.
Many countries possess a high level of violence against women. Violence is rooted in gender-based discrimination. Social norms And perpetuate that violence. So the best way to stop acid attacks (which is also a result of violence against women) is to try preventing it first by addressing what is the root cause for it. Education is crucial for ending all kinds of violence against women. Prevention should start early in life, by educating.
these days acid attacks are getting attention but much more needs to be done to prevent this dreadful crime. There is a serious need to regulate the sale of acid. Unregulated sale of acid is the major reason in the increasing number of these crimes.
The education is critical in prevention of acid attacks and other forms of violence against women and girls.

Teachers teach children to respect the right of others; they also promote the acceptance of responsibility for one’s actions. Teachers are responsible for the teaching of the importance of honesty, dedication and right behavior. Success or failure in the achievement of the building of a society that is made up of morally upright citizens depend more upon the adoption of education.
It is not the job of the judiciary or those in power to teach us moral education; their job is to give justice and rules we are supposed to follow so that such acts never happen.
We as a society shouldn't also discriminate the victims and should treat them our equals,we should understand the plight of the victims of acid attack victims They feel hopeless and suffer from mental trauma But we must Not let them think so, They deserve respect like other human beings. Apart from society, law should ensure that justice is served and the victims get adequate compensation.
