Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma on Wednesday said the enhanced ration quota and 12 gas cylinders will be a new year gift for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to reporters, Sharma said the government is going to announce the New Year gift for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Additional Ration and 12 cylinders will be announced on the eve of new year”.
The NC in its poll manifesto promised to provide 12 LPG cylinders to the economically weaker sections each year for free.
“Give us eleven months to fulfil the gap of 11 years of development for that we need people's cooperation”, he said.
"First we have to get back the statehood so that all issues could be redressed. The statehood restoration is a priority and chief minister Omar Abdullah has himself met top leadership in New Delhi. I believe PM Modi is himself interested in restoring the statehood and all other issues will be addressed after its restoration,” Sharma said.
On being asked about winter preparedness, he said that officers in the administration are quite intelligent, but there are some deficiencies, which will be filled.
“All arrangements, like dumping of essentials, have been put in place. But, we need to stay alert to tackle any challenge,” he added.
