
District Administration Srinagar had demolished a structure at Hanuman Mandir Amira Kadal, that was illegally built by a merchant from outside J&K
Sources at District office Srinagar said that they had demolished a concrete structure adjacent to Hanuman Mandir which was illegally build by a merchant from Amritsar.
“The merchant had constructed a 10-14 ft hall behind the Hanuman Mandir, on the allotted Nazool land which was given to local Auqaf Committee for the purpose of funeral ground,” the official said.
He said there are also some locals involved in the land allotment case.
As per the official, the district administration along with officials from Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) demolished the concrete hall which was constructed overnight.
Enforcement Officer at SMC, Ghulam Rasool said that they had demolished the structure at Hanuman Mandir along with the officials of revenue department.
“The demolition drive was carried under the supervision of Sub District Magistrate while SMC only provided men and machinery for the same,” he said.
Another official at Revenue Department Srinagar wishing anonymity said that inquiry in the case is done by Divisional Commissioner’s office.
“There are also others persons involved in the allotment case, we are investigating the matter from all angles,” he said.
Earlier the 2019, the patch of land was recovered after SMC removed CRPF bunker after 26 years to make space for funeral ground in the commercial hub Lal Chowk. (JKNS).
