
Srinagar, Feb 9: To encourage and honour the academic achievements of specially-abled students of Abhinandan Home, Solina, the District Administration Srinagar on Monday organized a felicitation ceremony at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.
The students had successfully qualified the JK Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Class 10th and 12th examinations for the academic year 2025.
The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, with noted neurosurgeon Dr. Sushil Razdan attending as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony witnessed an atmosphere of pride and motivation as students were applauded for overcoming challenges and excelling in academics.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner felicitated meritorious students of Classes 10th and 12th, including distinction holders, by presenting awards and certificates in recognition of their outstanding academic performance. Despite challenges related to hearing and speech, the students displayed remarkable determination and resilience by securing distinctions and first divisions in the JKBOSE examinations.
Congratulating the achievers, the DC commended their dedication and perseverance, while also acknowledging the vital role played by teachers and family members. He described the achievement as a proud moment not only for the students but also for the District Administration Srinagar and the wider community.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said that the success of these students stands as a powerful example of how determination, proper guidance, and institutional support can help overcome challenges. He appreciated the sustained efforts of the Department of Social Welfare, teachers, caretakers, and parents towards the holistic development of children with special needs.
Assuring continued support, the DC reaffirmed the District Administration’s commitment to the education, empowerment, and inclusion of specially-abled children, particularly those enrolled at the government-run Abhinandan Home. During his interaction with the students, he announced the provision of a school van to facilitate their transportation and assured them of all possible assistance in academics as well as sports.
The DC also encouraged the students to aspire for competitive examinations such as UPSC and JKAS, assuring full administrative support in their future endeavours.
