
Srinagar, Feb 7: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, along with SSP Traffic Police, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, inspected the Shankaracharya Temple on Saturday to finalize preparations for the upcoming Mahashivratri festival on February 14–15, 2026. The festival is celebrated with great devotion, especially by the Kashmiri Pandit community.
The visit included Additional DC Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Joint Commissioner SMC Nuzhat Khurshid, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tahir Sajad, executive engineers of PHE, R&B, KPDCL, Tehsildars of South and Khanyar, Chief Sanitation Officer, and members of the Dharmarth Trust.
During the review, the DC directed departments to ensure smooth traffic management, adequate parking, and shuttle services for devotees. He emphasized sanitation and hygiene along the pilgrimage route, functional streetlights, uninterrupted electricity, and sufficient drinking water facilities. A medical team with emergency medicines and first aid will also be deployed.
The DC assured full administrative support for a safe and enriching experience for all pilgrims and interacted with the Dharmarth Trust and Bhandara organising committee to coordinate the event effectively.
