Srinagar, June 19: MLA Budgam Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi has urged people to observe Muharram 2026 by following the teachings and principles of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S.), emphasising peace, discipline, and spiritual reflection during Azadari.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S.) in Karbala and encouraged people to uphold values of truth, justice, and humanity. He said Muharram is a time for unity, moral strength, and peaceful expression of faith.
He also appealed to religious organisations and community members to ensure that all religious gatherings and processions are conducted in an orderly and respectful manner, maintaining harmony and communal brotherhood.
The message comes as preparations for Muharram 2026 begin across Jammu and Kashmir, with religious and social groups gearing up for observances and related events.
