Shillong, July 10: Air Marshal IS Walia, AVSM, VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Eastern Air Command, visited the Headquarters of 23 Sector Assam Rifles on July 9 and reviewed the force's operational preparedness and anti-narcotics efforts.

During the visit, the Air Marshal was briefed by Colonel Laldinpuia, Commandant, 34 Assam Rifles, on the operational role of the force, ongoing security responsibilities, and the anti-narcotics operations being carried out in the region.
The briefing highlighted Assam Rifles' sustained efforts in maintaining security, supporting counter-insurgency operations, and curbing the menace of drug trafficking in the Northeast through coordinated intelligence-based operations.
Air Marshal Walia appreciated the professionalism, dedication, and commitment displayed by the personnel of Assam Rifles in safeguarding the region and combating narcotics-related activities. He complimented the force for its operational excellence and its continued contribution towards ensuring peace, stability, and national security in the Northeast.
The visit reaffirmed the close coordination between the Indian Air Force and Assam Rifles in strengthening operational synergy and addressing emerging security challenges in the region.
