The Amarnath yatra, which started on July 3, has crossed two lakh mark.
“With Baba Amarnath Ji's blessings, the holy pilgrimage has crossed 2 lakh mark today. This is a sacred journey of lifetime and I welcome all the devotees to discover and experience the divinity. Har Har Mahadev!,” J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha posted on X.
The 38-day annual Amarnath yatra from both the traditional Pahalgam route in south Kashmir and shortest Baltal route in central Kashmir started on July 3 amid tight security arrangements.
“The spiritual festivity and Yatra is continuing smoothly on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes and expected to draw more devotees in the days to come,” said LG Sinha, who is also Chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), the body responsible for overseeing the pilgrimage.
The authorities have made unprecedented security arrangements for safe and smooth conduct of Amarnath yatra this year after the April 22 Pahalgam attack in which 25 tourists and a local pony wala were killed.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of more than 7000 pilgrims left for the cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas in Jammu in the morning.
Officials said that the pilgrims left from the Jammu base camp in a fleet of 286 vehicles.
They said that 4158 pilgrims left for Pahalgam and 2891 for Baltal in a fleet of 286 vehicles comprising Light Motor Vehicles and Heavy Motor Vehicles.
The yatra will end on August 9.
