
‘At 23, he is recipient of COVID-19 warrior, UNESCO awards’
When the Covid-19 pandemic took the world by storm, Amir Rashid Wani and his team went home to home to spread awareness among people about the disease and how to fight it.
“We distributed essentials like masks, sanitizers, and basic things to eat so they don’t have to go out much, Amir said. His selfless work to save lives and reach out to the needy in times for need has earned him many accolades including Youngest Social Worker award, COVID-19 Warrior Award 2020-2021, and UNESCO award by Jammu and Kashmir government.
“The only way we can live is if we grow. The only way we can grow is if we change. The only way we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we are exposed is, if we throw ourselves into the open”, Amir told reporters.
At 23 years old, Amir is a young saviour and hero of thousands of people whom he has influenced for all the right causes.
Amir has been into social causes since he was 17 years old, “Helping others should be the purpose of his life. To help as many people as I could, I started an NGO called Mooj Kosher Welfare Trust. Over a period of time, several hardworking and dedicated people who are up to do good have joined me,” he said.
During Covid-19 lockdown, he even reached out to the elderly people and got essentials delivered at their, “We also helped students whose families were in Kashmir and there was no means of communication. We provided them with support and all the necessities they needed,” he said.
“I was there to support them like a family member. Our foundation is always up for helping the children who are deprived of the privilege of education,” he said.
For many people, he is a shoulder for those who are in need can rely on and a role model for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
