Key Projects Announced:
Srikona, Inspector General Headquarters (East)
A comprehensive infrastructure project worth ₹145 crore will be developed, featuring a state-of-the-art Communication Centre. The facility is designed to bolster real-time operational planning, coordination, and execution while also improving logistical and living conditions for personnel posted in remote locations.
Silchar Women’s Barracks
In a landmark move towards gender inclusivity, ₹22.58 crore has been allocated for the construction of dedicated women’s barracks in Silchar. This project is expected to facilitate the seamless integration of Riflewomen into the force, setting a precedent for other paramilitary units.
25 Sector Headquarters, Jorhat
A third project worth ₹19.14 crore will focus on building enhanced residential and operational facilities for soldiers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and officers stationed at the sector headquarters in Jorhat.
Shri Amit Shah praised the Assam Rifles for their unwavering service in maintaining peace and security in the Northeast. He emphasized that the government is committed to modernizing the force and improving the living and working conditions of its personnel.
These projects are part of a broader vision to empower India’s oldest paramilitary force with modern infrastructure, promote gender equality, and enhance border security preparedness in the strategically sensitive Northeast region.
