Home Minister Amit Shah would chair a high-level meeting in New Delhi on Thursday to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Sources said the Home Minister would take stock of the overall security scenario during the security review meeting.
“He would seek feedback from security officials about the prevailing security situation in J&K and at the frontiers. He will also seek updates on anti-militancy operations,” they said.
The security review meeting is being held after two elite para commandos have gone missing during an anti-militancy operation in Gadool forest area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Sources said the meeting aims to enhance synergy between security agencies and review ongoing counter-terror operations across J&K.
They said the Home minister is likely to emphasise on the zero tolerance policy against terrorism and instruct all security agencies to remain alert and operate in a coordinated manner to eliminate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
After the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, there are continuous operations to dismantle the terror network in J&K while also ensuring that tourism returns to normal.
Sources said during the meeting, a review of the security situation in the Pir Panjal region and ongoing developmental projects in the UT will be undertaken, the officials said.
The last such review meeting on J&K was chaired by Amit Shah on September 1.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and top officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Intelligence Bureau, Army, CRPF, BSF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police would attend the meeting.
Top J&K officials, including the Chief Secretary and other senior officers reached Delhi this evening to participate in the security review meeting.
