Directorate of Physical Education and sports concludes Annual Inter college Judo championship Men /Women 2023-24. During Tournament more than 150 students of University of Kashmir and affiliated colleges took part in the events across different weight categories .Presiding over the valedictory function worthy Registrar, University of Kashmir Dr Nasir Ahmad Mir congratulated all participants especially Medallists and team championship winners . He shared his delight on witnessing the impressive participation of students especially from girls hailing from different colleges of the valley and was hopeful of same participation from students for upcoming events especially girls students. He conveyed the message of Honourable Vice Chancellor “winning and losing is not important it is the participation which matters, the sports needs utmost dedication and team work “. Earlier speaking on the occasion Coordinator, Directorate of Physical Education and Sports Dr Nadeem Ahmad Dar welcomed the Chief Guest , and all officials from different colleges, DPES and other other departments of University .He apprised the audience about the ongoing sports activities within the campus and assured more participation of students in upcoming events and expressed his optimism for better performance in upcoming All India/North Zone Inter University championships. He expressed his gratitude to Chief Proctor, In charge Health centre, Media cell of the university for their support and cooperation.
Later medals and trophies were distributed among medal winners.The overall championship of Inter College championship was clinched by Gandhi Memorial College and runner’s up trophy bagged by Government Degree College Tral. Government Degree College Tral lifted the winning trophy in the meanwhile women College Zakura won runner’s trophy of Inter College women Judo Championship. The proceedings of function was carried out by Mr Sheikh Adil gymnasium coach . PTI’S , Incharges, coaches and staff of DPES were present on the occasion. The championship was coordinated by Mrs Surjit Kour (Sports Assistant).
