
The anxiety and fear has gripped the Kashmiri students studying in Bangladesh, where student protest has turned into a massive unrest and 32 persons have been killed so far in clashes with security forces.
Kashmiri students in Bangladesh are facing fear and anxiety due to the ongoing violence, with many reporting feeling trapped and helpless.
Hundreds of Kashmiri students studying in Bangladesh have contacted their families back home and sought their early relocation to a safer place.
"Our children are scared and anxious due to the ongoing violence and unrest,” said Ghulam Rasool, whose daughter is studying MBBS in one of the medical colleges in Bangladesh.
He said families in Kashmir are deeply worried and concerned for the safety of their wards studying in Bangladesh.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), over 3,500 Kashmiri students are studying in different colleges and universities in Bangladesh.
The Association has appealed to the Indian government to take immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of Kashmiri students in Bangladesh, where protests have been triggered by the Bangladesh High Court's decision to reinstate a 30% government job quota for descendants of 1971 war veterans, have created a volatile environment in the country.
The former Chief Minister of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state, Mehbooba Mufti, appealed to the government to take immediate steps to bring Kashmiri students back home.
“As protests & turmoil grip Bangladesh, I urge @DrSJaishankar to urgently intervene & ensure the safety of thousands of Kashmiri students in Bangladesh. Internet services being suspended has only added to the distress of their parents. Immediate steps must be taken to bring them back home,” she posted on X.
The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) also appealed to Dr Jaishankar for urgent assistance in relocating and ensuring the safety of Kashmiri students in Bangladesh.
