AOC-in-C Eastern Air Command reviews security at HQ IGAR (North)

Kohima, July 13: Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia, AVSM, VM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Eastern Air Command, visited Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) [HQ IGAR (North)] in Kohima on July 12 to review the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness in the strategically significant North Eastern region.

During the visit, the Air Marshal was briefed by senior Assam Rifles officials on the prevailing security environment, ongoing operational commitments, and the coordinated measures being undertaken to maintain peace and stability across the region. Discussions also focused on enhancing inter-service coordination, improving operational readiness, and addressing emerging security challenges.
As part of the visit, Air Marshal Walia paid homage at the historic Kohima War Cemetery, honouring the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Battle of Kohima in World War II. He laid a wreath at the memorial and acknowledged the courage and valour of the fallen heroes whose legacy continues to inspire the Armed Forces.
The AOC-in-C also interacted with officers and troops of the Assam Rifles, commending them for their professionalism, unwavering dedication, and exemplary service in safeguarding the nation's frontiers and maintaining internal security in the North East. He appreciated their commitment to operational excellence despite challenging terrain and demanding conditions.
Highlighting the importance of jointness among the Armed Forces, Air Marshal Walia emphasized continued cooperation and seamless coordination between the Indian Air Force and Assam Rifles to effectively address evolving security challenges. He noted that strong inter-service synergy remains vital for ensuring rapid response capabilities, enhancing operational effectiveness, and maintaining peace in the region.
The visit reaffirmed the robust partnership between the Indian Air Force and Assam Rifles, underscoring their shared commitment to national security, regional stability, and the continued protection of India's strategic interests in the North East.
