Imphal, July 20: In a commendable initiative to foster environmental conservation and strengthen civil-military relations, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Editors’ Guild of Manipur, organized a large-scale tree plantation drive at Olympic Park, Sangeithal Hillock, in Imphal on July 20, 2025.
The drive, aimed at promoting a clean and green Imphal, witnessed the planting of over 200 saplings. The event saw enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders, including personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), officials from the Forest Department, and members of the local community.
The plantation drive not only highlighted Assam Rifles' ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, but also served as a platform for reinforcing civil-military harmony. By involving media professionals, paramilitary forces, and local residents, the initiative created a collaborative atmosphere focused on sustainability and mutual cooperation.
Speaking on the occasion, Assam Rifles officials emphasized the importance of such community-driven efforts in combating climate change and preserving Manipur’s ecological heritage. Representatives from the Editors’ Guild appreciated the Army's efforts and reiterated the media's role in promoting environmental awareness and positive community action.
This green initiative is part of a broader series of outreach and eco-restoration programs undertaken by the Assam Rifles in the Northeast, showcasing their multidimensional role beyond security—extending into community development and environmental care.
