
Imphal, July 14: In a significant outreach initiative aimed at strengthening community participation in peacebuilding, the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of the Spear Corps, organised an interaction with women leaders from Tamenglong district of Manipur, highlighting their crucial role in fostering communal harmony and grassroots peace initiatives.
The interaction, held as part of the force's ongoing civil-military engagement programme, brought together women representatives and members of Community Service Organisations (CSOs) to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between security forces and local communities in the interest of lasting peace and stability.
During the programme, participants deliberated on the importance of women's leadership in conflict resolution, community development and social cohesion. The discussions also focused on encouraging active public participation in maintaining peace, promoting dialogue among communities and strengthening trust between civilians and security agencies.
Assam Rifles officials emphasised that women have consistently played a transformative role in shaping resilient communities and can significantly contribute to preventing conflict, promoting reconciliation and supporting developmental initiatives at the grassroots level.
The interaction also underscored the importance of close military-civil cooperation in addressing local challenges and creating an environment conducive to peace, security and inclusive development across the region.
The women leaders appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively with government agencies, civil society organisations and security forces to promote harmony and social unity in Tamenglong and other parts of Manipur.
