Shillong, Sep 23: Assam Rifles Public School (Sports), Laitkor, Shillong, took a significant step towards guiding its students toward a future in national service by organizing a motivational lecture on 22nd September 2025. The session, aimed at encouraging young minds to consider careers in the Indian Armed Forces, was conducted by Lt Col Somokanta Singh, who brought both inspiration and insight to the audience.

Drawing from his own experiences in the defense services, Lt Col Singh spoke passionately about the values of discipline, integrity, courage, and commitment that define military life. He shared personal stories from his journey in the armed forces, giving students a realistic yet inspiring view of what it means to serve the nation.
The lecture covered various aspects of defense careers — including the training process, daily routines, leadership challenges, and the pride associated with wearing the uniform. Lt Col Singh also highlighted the diverse opportunities in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and paramilitary services, emphasizing that students from all backgrounds have the potential to succeed with the right mindset and preparation.
