AR rescues injured in Nagaland bus accident

Lal Maati, Feb 2: In a prompt humanitarian response, personnel of the Assam Rifles undertook an immediate rescue operation and provided timely first aid to injured civilians following a road traffic accident on the Lal Maati route on the evening of 31 January 2026.

A passenger bus travelling from Mokokchung to Dimapur met with an accident due to overspeeding and loss of control, resulting in a collision with a roadside retaining wall. Upon receiving information, troops of 45 Assam Rifles swiftly rushed to the accident site and initiated rescue operations without delay.
Assam Rifles personnel evacuated injured passengers from the damaged vehicle and rendered immediate first aid at the site. Seriously injured casualties were stabilised by the unit’s Regimental Medical Officer and subsequently evacuated to higher medical facilities for specialised treatment, accompanied by trained medical staff.
The swift, coordinated and professional response by Assam Rifles helped save precious lives and ensured timely medical assistance to the injured, reaffirming the force’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and public service during emergencies.
Assam Rifles continues to stand steadfast with the people, extending support beyond security duties whenever the situation demands.
