Kohima, July 13: Havildar Mohd Iqbal of the Assam Rifles made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Nagaland on Monday, the force announced while paying solemn tribute to the brave soldier.

In an official statement, Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, along with all ranks of the force, expressed profound grief over the loss and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Paying homage to the fallen soldier, the Assam Rifles said Havildar Mohd Iqbal displayed exemplary courage, dedication and commitment while serving the nation. The force described his sacrifice as a reflection of the highest traditions of military service and unwavering devotion to duty.

While the Assam Rifles did not immediately disclose the operational circumstances leading to the soldier's death, officials affirmed that the force remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the nation's security and maintaining peace in the Northeast.
The Assam Rifles, India's oldest paramilitary force, has played a pivotal role in counter-insurgency operations, border management and maintaining law and order across the northeastern states. The force has earned a distinguished reputation for its professionalism, courage and selfless service under challenging conditions.
Senior officers and personnel of the Assam Rifles paid homage to the fallen soldier, remembering his dedication and sacrifice in the service of the nation.
