Kohima, Sept15: Formations of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps conducted a series of security and community outreach activities across Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, focusing on border security, youth engagement and stronger coordination with local communities.

In Phek district of Nagaland, troops organised a joint security meeting with Gaon Burhas, Village Council Chairmen (VCCs) and Youth Presidents. The interaction focused on key security concerns in the border areas, including cross-border infiltration, insurgent activities and smuggling.
The meeting provided a platform for security forces and community representatives to exchange information, discuss emerging challenges and strengthen coordination at the grassroots level. Local leaders were encouraged to remain vigilant and support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security in their respective areas.
In Manipur’s Ukhrul district, an interactive session with local residents focused on youth pre-recruitment training and healthcare support. The initiative sought to help young people prepare for recruitment opportunities while also facilitating greater access to essential health-related assistance.
Meanwhile, in the remote Manigong Valley of Arunachal Pradesh, troops interacted with Gaon Burhas and village elders and felicitated them in recognition of their continued support to security forces deployed along the frontiers.
The engagements highlighted the role of local communities in maintaining security in remote and sensitive border areas. The interactions also sought to strengthen trust and cooperation between security forces and residents.
The initiatives reflect the continued efforts of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles to combine operational preparedness with community engagement, while addressing local concerns and reinforcing security awareness across the northeastern frontier
