
Jammu, July 11: Army chief General Dhiraj Seth on Saturday honoured Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khour, Satish Sharma, for his leadership and coordination during Operation Sindoor, under which more than 73,000 civilians were evacuated from villages along the Line of Control (LoC).
Sharma was recognised for overseeing one of the largest civilian evacuation efforts in the region, ensuring the safe relocation of residents from vulnerable border areas during a period of heightened security concerns.
Officials said the evacuation operation was conducted under the supervision of the SDM in close coordination with the civil administration, security forces and local authorities.
They said no civilian deaths were reported from the Khour sector during the operation, crediting the outcome to timely planning, effective coordination and the prompt implementation of evacuation measures.
