
Imphal, July 28: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth, on Monday called on Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan in Imphal to review the prevailing security situation and discuss measures aimed at strengthening peace, stability and coordination in the violence-affected northeastern state.
The Army Chief was accompanied by the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Corps, and the Inspector General, Assam Rifles (South), reflecting the importance of the high-level security review.
During the meeting, the senior military leadership briefed the Governor on the overall security environment, ongoing counter-insurgency operations, border management, and the role of the Army and Assam Rifles in maintaining law and order across sensitive areas of the state.
The discussions also focused on enhancing coordination between the civil administration and security forces to ensure peace, facilitate normalcy, and support ongoing efforts for rehabilitation and confidence-building among affected communities.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla appreciated the professionalism and commitment of the Army and Assam Rifles in safeguarding public security and maintaining stability in Manipur despite challenging circumstances. He stressed the need for continued cooperation among all stakeholders to restore lasting peace and create an environment conducive to development.
General Dhiraj Seth reiterated the Indian Army's commitment to supporting the civil administration in maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of the people.
