Hayuliang/Walong, Aug 1: Reinforcing its commitment to healthcare, education and border area development, the Indian Army organised a comprehensive School Health Survey and free medicine distribution drive at Kendriya Vidyalayas in Hayuliang and Walong under the Vibrant Village Programme.

The initiative was conducted by Dao Division under Spear Corps with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare among schoolchildren and strengthening disaster preparedness in remote border regions of Arunachal Pradesh.

During the programme, students underwent detailed health screening to assess key health indicators. Medical teams examined the children for common health issues, identified those requiring further medical attention and distributed essential medicines free of cost to ensure timely treatment and improved well-being.

As part of the programme, the Army also organised practical training sessions on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid, equipping students with essential life-saving skills. The hands-on demonstrations enabled participants to learn how to respond effectively during medical emergencies and disasters until professional assistance becomes available.

Army officials said the initiative was aimed not only at improving the health of students but also at creating awareness about preventive healthcare and emergency response, thereby building safer and more resilient communities in border areas.

Teachers and local residents appreciated the effort, stating that such outreach programmes are especially valuable in remote regions where access to specialised healthcare facilities is limited.

The initiative reflects the Indian Army's continued commitment to community welfare through the Vibrant Village Programme, which focuses on improving the quality of life in border villages by supporting healthcare, education, infrastructure and community resilience.

Officials said such programmes contribute to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat by ensuring that development reaches even the country's most remote and strategically important regions while empowering local communities through better healthcare and awareness.
