Baramulla, May 7 : In a commendable endeavour to advance community healthcare and foster preventive medical awareness, the Chinar Corps of Indian Army successfully conducted an extensive month-long dental healthcare initiative, ‘Dagger Dentathon’, under the aegis of Operation Sadhbhavna, from 07 April to 07 May 2026 across North Kashmir.
Conceived as a holistic outreach programme, the initiative sought to augment oral health awareness, extend preventive care and deliver essential dental services to population residing in remote and underserved regions. A series of meticulously organised dental camps were conducted across the regions of Baramulla, Naugam, Boniyar, Uri and Gulmarg, thereby ensuring access to quality dental care for a broad and diverse cross-section of society.
The initiative witnessed the dedicated participation of dental surgeons and paradental personnel, who rendered a comprehensive spectrum of services, encompassing clinical consultations, basic therapeutic interventions and preventive care. Complementing these efforts, a number of structured awareness sessions and health lectures were conducted in schools, community centres and public congregation points with a focus on inculcating sound oral hygiene practices and preventive health consciousness.
Particular emphasis was accorded to vulnerable demographics, notably children and the elderly, who remain disproportionately susceptible to dental ailments. During this dental drive, more than 2,500 civilians, including approximately 500 children got benefited.
The initiative culminated on 07 May 2026 with a vibrant poster competition organised for school children on the theme “Happy Teeth, Healthy Life.” The resounding success of ‘Dagger Dentathon’, spearheaded by the Chinar Corps, stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment towards community welfare, preventive healthcare and sustained outreach in the region.
