Dibang , April 24: Troops of the Dao Division under Spear Corps conducted a self-defence workshop at a school in Dibang Valley, focusing on empowering students with practical skills, confidence, and discipline.
The initiative was aimed at enhancing awareness among young students about personal safety and equipping them with basic techniques to respond to challenging situations. Army personnel demonstrated simple yet effective self-defence methods, encouraging active participation from students during the session.
The workshop also emphasised the importance of physical fitness, mental alertness, and discipline as key components of self-protection. Students were guided on how to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in unsafe situations.
Teachers and school authorities appreciated the initiative, noting that such programmes play an important role in building confidence among students, especially in remote and far-flung areas where access to specialised training is limited.
Officials said the outreach reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to youth development and community engagement in border regions. Beyond its operational role, the Army regularly undertakes educational and motivational initiatives to support local communities.
The session concluded with interactions between troops and students, where queries on safety, discipline, and career opportunities in the armed forces were addressed.
The programme was well received, with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to learn practical life skills that contribute to their overall development and preparedness.
