Maram, July 1: The Assam Rifles paid solemn tribute to six soldiers of 16 Assam Rifles who laid down their lives in the line of duty during an operation against armed insurgents in Peren, Nagaland, on June 30, 1967.
A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the War Memorial, Maram, on June 30, 2026, to commemorate the bravery and supreme sacrifice of the six Bravehearts. Senior officers, troops and other personnel of the force participated in the ceremony and paid their respects to the fallen soldiers.
Floral wreaths were laid at the memorial as a mark of gratitude and remembrance, while participants observed solemn moments in honour of the martyrs who displayed exceptional courage, dedication and devotion while defending the nation.
Officials said the ceremony was organised to preserve the legacy of the fallen heroes and to inspire serving personnel to uphold the highest traditions of courage, duty and selfless service that define the Assam Rifles.
