Agartala, July 1: In a bid to inspire the next generation of youth towards nation-building and careers in the Armed Forces, the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, organised an extensive Weapon and Equipment Display for more than 500 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets attending the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-50 in Agartala, Tripura.

The event provided the cadets with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the Indian Army's modern infantry weapons, specialised military equipment and operational capabilities. Through interactive demonstrations conducted by experienced Assam Rifles personnel, the participants were introduced to the functioning, role and importance of various weapons and equipment used by the Army in safeguarding the nation's borders and maintaining internal security.
During the display, Army personnel explained the features, operational use and tactical significance of different categories of infantry weapons, communication systems, surveillance equipment, protective gear and other specialised military assets. The cadets were encouraged to interact with the soldiers, ask questions and understand the technological advancements and operational preparedness of the Indian Army.
Officials said the initiative was aimed at bridging the gap between young citizens and the Armed Forces by providing practical exposure to military life and fostering a deeper understanding of the Army's professionalism, discipline and commitment to national security.
The programme also highlighted the crucial role played by the Assam Rifles in border management, counter-insurgency operations, humanitarian assistance, disaster response and civic action programmes across the North Eastern region. Soldiers shared their experiences from field operations, offering cadets valuable insights into the challenges and responsibilities associated with military service.
The interactive session generated considerable enthusiasm among the NCC cadets, many of whom expressed keen interest in pursuing careers in the Armed Forces. They appreciated the opportunity to closely observe military equipment, interact with serving personnel and gain a better understanding of life in uniform.
Officials said such outreach programmes form an important part of the Indian Army's efforts to motivate young people, instil discipline, leadership and patriotism, and encourage them to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
The event concluded with the cadets expressing gratitude to the Assam Rifles for providing an informative and inspiring experience that strengthened their awareness of the Armed Forces and reinforced the values of service, dedication and national pride.
