Hayuliang , July 12: In a significant step towards enhancing joint operational capability and preparedness against emerging aerial threats, Dao Division under the Spear Corps conducted a two-week Joint Drone and Counter-Drone Training programme with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Lohit NEST, Hayuliang, in Arunachal Pradesh.
The specialised training programme was designed to strengthen interoperability between the Indian Army and the ITBP while equipping personnel with advanced skills in drone operations and counter-drone warfare.
During the intensive two-week course, participants received comprehensive training in drone handling, mission planning, aerial surveillance, equipment maintenance and the effective deployment of unmanned aerial systems in diverse operational environments.
Special emphasis was laid on counter-drone measures, enabling personnel to identify, track and neutralise potential aerial threats using modern technologies and tactical procedures.
The programme also included practical exercises and simulated operational scenarios, allowing participants to apply their knowledge in real-time situations and improve coordination between the two forces.
Officials said the joint training significantly enhanced the operational proficiency of participating personnel while promoting seamless coordination and information sharing during future missions.
The initiative reflects the growing importance of drone technology in modern military and border security operations, where unmanned aerial systems play an increasingly critical role in intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance and force protection.
By training together, the Indian Army and the ITBP further strengthened their ability to undertake coordinated operations, particularly in the challenging terrain of the northeastern frontier.
The programme concluded with participants demonstrating improved capabilities in drone deployment, surveillance techniques, mission execution and counter-drone operations, reinforcing the joint operational readiness of both forces to effectively address evolving security challenges.
The training reaffirmed the commitment of the Spear Corps and the ITBP to adopting emerging technologies, enhancing interoperability and maintaining a high level of preparedness to safeguard the nation's borders.
