Army leads heroic rescue after devastating Angrim Valley landslide

August 19, 2025 | BK News Service

In the face of nature’s fury, the Indian Army, under the aegis of #SpearCorps, displayed exceptional courage and compassion by launching immediate rescue and relief operations in Angrim Valley, following a devastating cloudburst and landslide that struck the region on the night of August 16–17.
Triggered by intense overnight rains, the cloudburst caused massive landslides that buried homes, blocked key routes, and left several villagers stranded in the remote valley. In response, brave troops of the Indian Army sprang into action at first light, coordinating closely with the civil administration to reach the affected areas.
Navigating through treacherous terrain, unstable slopes, and rapidly rising streams, the soldiers risked their lives to rescue trapped villagers, evacuate the injured, and reconnect cut-off hamlets. Temporary footbridges were erected, satellite communication systems were deployed for coordination, and medics provided first aid to the injured under challenging field conditions.
“When disaster strikes, there is no time to hesitate. Our first priority was to save lives. Despite the dangerous conditions, our teams moved in with urgency and empathy,” said a senior officer from Spear Corps, overseeing the operation.
The Army also distributed emergency relief material, including food packets, drinking water, blankets, and medical supplies to affected families. Their presence brought not just help but hope to the frightened residents who had lost shelter and security overnight.
With homes destroyed and roads wiped out, the troops are also assisting in clearing debris, restoring connectivity, and setting up temporary shelters. Engineers and logistics personnel have been deployed to assess structural damage and plan for long-term restoration.
The Army’s effort was met with heartfelt gratitude from the locals. “They came like guardians in the dark,” said an elderly villager. “We were crying for help all night, and it was the soldiers who carried our children to safety.”
This operation is yet another testament to the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the nation—not just as protectors in uniform, but as first responders, humanitarians, and healers in times of need.
As rescue and recovery efforts continue, the Indian Army stands firm—shoulder to shoulder with the people of Angrim Valley, proving once again that the spirit of service knows no terrain too tough and no crisis too deep.
