Aalo , July 18: A patient battling a critically low haemoglobin level was given a new lease of life after soldiers from the Field Hospital of the Spearhead Division under Spear Corps donated rare A Rh-negative blood in a timely emergency response at the General Hospital in Aalo.
According to officials, the patient required an urgent blood transfusion, but the extremely rare A Rh-negative blood group was not readily available at the hospital. With the patient's condition deteriorating, the hospital sought immediate assistance from the Indian Army.
Responding swiftly, soldiers from the Field Hospital identified compatible donors and donated the required blood without delay, enabling doctors to stabilise the patient and avert a potentially fatal situation.
Following the successful transfusion and initial treatment, the patient was referred to a specialised medical facility in Itanagar for advanced care and further management.
Officials said the prompt response by the Army medical team highlighted the crucial role played by the armed forces in supporting civilian healthcare during emergencies, particularly in remote and difficult-to-access regions of the Northeast.
The humanitarian act has been widely appreciated by local residents and hospital authorities, who praised the soldiers for their selfless service and quick action in saving a precious life.
