Srinagar, Sep 29 :In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening preventive healthcare and promoting health awareness among children in remote areas, Chinar Corps of Indian Army conceptualised and operationalised a structured School Health Programme across all Army Goodwill Schools in Kupwara and Bandipora districts of Kashmir.

The programme aims to facilitate early identification of health and developmental concerns, promote healthy behaviours and enable timely medical advice, referral and follow-up.
Initiated during the last week of August 2026, the programme was progressively undertaken across all Army Goodwill Schools and Udaan Schools. The concluding school health camp was conducted at Udaan School on 29 September 2026 marking the culmination of the first phase of the initiative. More than 2,000 students were screened during the programme on growth and nutritional status, vision, hearing and ENT health, oral and dental health, personal hygiene, pallor and general health, including clinical examination.
The initiative assumes added significance during Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026, being observed nationally in September under the Poshan 2.0 Programme, which places emphasis on dietary diversity, adequate nutrition, healthy growth, childhood development and meaningful community participation.
