In a significant move to bolster forward-area communications and operational readiness, the Spear Head Division under the Indian Army's Spear Corps has signed a pilot contract with M/s VTL Pvt Ltd for hiring Dark Fibre infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh. The agreement, inked on 23 August 2025, marks a progressive step in leveraging Public–Private Partnerships (PPP) to strengthen India’s digital frontiers.
The initiative aims to provide seamless, high-bandwidth connectivity in strategically sensitive and remote locations, enhancing real-time operational capabilities and situational awareness. By tapping into existing fibre optic infrastructure through dark fibre leasing, the Army ensures secure and dedicated data transmission channels in border areas.
This pilot project aligns with the broader national push toward digital empowerment and border modernization. If successful, it could serve as a model for similar partnerships in other forward regions, reinforcing both military efficiency and local infrastructure development.
