Imphal, Sep 28: The Grand Finale of a football tournament in Manipur witnessed an impressive display of sporting talent, with the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur attending the event as Chief Guest alongside the Director General Assam Rifles and senior Army dignitaries.

In the men’s final, Army XI Red produced a dominant performance to defeat Corps of Signals 5-0 and lift the championship title.
The women’s title was claimed by MEIRAA, who emerged victorious in the women’s competition.
The organisers also recognised outstanding individual performances during the tournament. W Neeraj Singh was adjudged the Best Player in the Men’s category, while Athokpam Malemnganbi was named Best Player in the Women’s category.
Khaidem Shileima received the Best Emerging Player – Women award along with the ₹20,000 Poornima Konsam Memorial Award in recognition of her promising performance.
The Grand Finale brought together players, officials, dignitaries and sports enthusiasts, providing a platform for local talent to showcase their skills and competitive spirit.
The Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to promoting sports and empowering youth in Manipur by creating opportunities for emerging athletes to develop their talent.
The tournament also highlighted the role of sporting events in encouraging discipline, teamwork and healthy competition among young people, while strengthening community participation through sports.
