On 11 December, a loaded civil truck toppled along the Karnah-Kupwara Highway, the sole communication lifeline connecting the remote town of Tangdhar. The incident posed a serious threat to traffic on the vital route, especially for heavy vehicles.
The truck accident, which occurred due to slippery road conditions caused by the heavy snow spell, left the crew stranded in perilous conditions. Responding promptly, a recovery team from the Indian Army stationed at Nasta Chhun Pass undertook the challenging task of rescuing the crew. Despite the adverse weather, the team ensured the safety of all individuals involved.
The toppled truck, laden with cargo, obstructed the highway, making it impassable for other heavy vehicles. Recognizing the critical nature of the Karnah-Kupwara Highway for local communities, the Army’s recovery team braved inclement weather and treacherous road conditions to remove the truck and its cargo.
Utilizing specialized recovery equipment, the team maneuvered the truck safely and cleared the road.
