Srinagar, June 26: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V.K. Birdi on Friday said that elaborate security and administrative arrangements ensured the smooth and peaceful conduct of Youm-e-Ashoora processions across the Kashmir Valley.

Speaking to reporters, the IGP said that security agencies and the civil administration had made comprehensive preparations well in advance to facilitate mourners and maintain law and order during the religious observance.
He appreciated the role of organisers and volunteers, stating that their coordination with the police helped ensure disciplined processions and smooth regulation of public movement throughout the day.
The IGP also expressed gratitude to the people for adhering to guidelines issued by authorities and cooperating fully during the observance. He said the collective efforts of the administration, organisers, volunteers, and the public contributed to the peaceful and orderly conduct of Ashoora processions across the Valley.
