Jammu, Sep 26:The Asmita Khelo India Women Cycling League – Jammu (Road) commenced today at Kangrail Chowk, Chak Bhalwal, Jammu, with enthusiastic participation from more than 300 women cyclists from different districts of Jammu & Kashmir. The two-day cycling competition is being organised to provide a competitive platform to women cyclists and promote women’s participation in cycling.
Sh. Ravinder Singh, SP Rural Jammu, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event was attended by office bearers of the Cycling Association of Jammu & Kashmir, including Sh. Ravinder Singh, Chairman; Sh. Om Parkash, General Secretary; Sh. S.S. Gill; and Sh. Ravi Salgotra.
The competitions are being conducted under the supervision of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI). Officials from CFI, including Sh. Rahul, Dr. Vikesh Kumar and Sh. Sanjeev, were present and supervised the conduct of the events.
The first day featured the Individual Time Trial competitions in the Junior Girls and Senior Women categories. The results were:
Senior Women – Time Trial
1.( Gold) Ulfat Mustaq – Baramulla District
2.(silver) Sunekha – Jammu District
3.( Bronze) Supriya– Jammu District
The organisers appreciated the enthusiastic participation of cyclists from across Jammu & Kashmir and highlighted the importance of such competitions in identifying and nurturing emerging women cycling talent.
The second and concluding day ( 27 of September ) of the league will feature the Mass Start races for both Junior Girls and Senior Women categories, followed by the prize distribution ceremony.

For Baramulla’s Ulfat Mushtaq, cycling is not just about winning medals. It is also about making her district proud.
Ulfat on Saturday won the gold medal in the Senior Women’s Individual Time Trial at the Asmita Khelo India Women Cycling League at Kangrail Chowk, Chak Bhalwal, Jammu.
More than 300 women cyclists from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the two-day competition.
Speaking to The Web Story about her experience, Ulfat said she feels very good while cycling and always carries the thought that a medal could bring recognition to her district.
“I feel very good while cycling. I always have this thought in my mind that if I win a medal, it will bring recognition to my district, and everyone will be proud of me.”,” she said.
Ulfat Mushtaq hailing from Rafiabad is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration. Alongside her studies, she has completed an NIS short course in cycling and a Level 1 cycling course.
She has also represented Jammu and Kashmir at the National Games of India in Uttarakhand last year, becoming the first senior female cyclist from J&K to represent the Union Territory at the National Games, according to her.
Ulfat said the achievement has given her further motivation to continue in the sport and represent Jammu and Kashmir at bigger platforms.
In Saturday’s Senior Women’s Individual Time Trial, Sunekha of Jammu District won silver, while Supriya of Jammu District secured the bronze medal.
