Assam Rifiles pays tribute to martyr in Tengnoupal

Tengnoupal,, June 18: Assam Rifles conducted a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Tengnoupal on 17 June 2026 to honour Lance Naik Hanuman Ram, who made the supreme sacrifice during Operation Rakshak in Jammu & Kashmir on 17 June 1995.

The ceremony was held with full military honours, where a total of 45 personnel of Assam Rifles gathered to pay homage to the fallen soldier. Officers and troops stood in disciplined formation as wreaths were laid in remembrance of his bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty.
Lance Naik Hanuman Ram had laid down his life during a cordon and search operation at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, where he displayed exceptional courage in the face of militant fire. Officials recalled that he bravely shielded his Commanding Officer during the encounter and continued to engage the terrorists despite sustaining fatal injuries.
His act of valour was remembered as an example of unwavering dedication, selflessness, and supreme sacrifice for the nation. The gathering observed solemn respect as participants reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the legacy of soldiers who have laid down their lives in service of the country.
Assam Rifles officials stated that such commemorative ceremonies are an integral part of preserving regimental history and ensuring that the sacrifices of brave personnel continue to inspire future generations.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge by the force to honour martyrs and carry forward their legacy of courage, discipline, and devotion to duty.
