
Itanagar, June 14: On World Blood Donor Day 2026, the spirit of selfless service was reflected across Northeast India as Assam Rifles and Indian Army formations under Spear Corps, in collaboration with healthcare partners, organised large-scale blood donation drives at multiple locations.
The camps were held at Haflong, Margherita and Dibrugarh in Assam, Pallel in Manipur, and Daporijo in Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from Armed Forces personnel, civilians, and medical professionals, who came forward as voluntary donors to support critical healthcare needs.
A significant number of units collected blood donations, helping strengthen emergency medical preparedness and reinforcing the availability of life-saving resources for hospitals and healthcare centres in the region.
The initiative also highlighted strong military–civil cooperation and community engagement, promoting awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation.
As part of outreach efforts, Spear Corps’ initiative Radio Highway Pallel recorded a special podcast focusing on the significance of blood donation, further amplifying the message among local communities.
The coordinated effort underscored the commitment of the Armed Forces to humanitarian service alongside their operational responsibilities, strengthening bonds with the civil population across the Northeast.
